The election commission monday announced the dates for the keenly watched bihar elections. over the 7.4 crore pf electors of the state will cast their votes in two phases. the first phase will take on 6 November and second phase will take on 11 november. The counting of votes will take place on 14 novemer 2025.

The term of the 243 members state assembly ends on 22 November. The political parties had requested the election commission to conduct the election immediately after the chhath festival to ensure greater voter partcipations as a large number of people employed outside return home for chhath festivial.

The announcement of the poll dates followed a press conference by the Election Commission of India, during which officials shared new details and procedures that will be implemented for the highly anticipated state elections.

These include updated electoral processes aimed at ensuring transparency, voter convenience, and the smooth conduct of polling across all 243 constituencies. During the press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced that all polling booths will be made accessible with ramps and wheelchairs to ensure ease of voting for differently-abled and elderly citizens. He further informed that webcasting will be conducted from every booth to maintain transparency. Additionally, Anganwadi workers will be deployed to assist in verifying the identity of burqa-clad women voters, ensuring a smooth and secure voting process.
