The Bihar Public Service Commission has published the final amendment to the timing table of the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) Pre Exam 2025. Applicants who completed the ASO job recruitment process can now mark the new official date and adjust their preparation. The test that was initially proposed to be taken in mid-September will this time be taken on 10 September 2025. This is an important message to candidates planning on qualifying to undertake administrative positions in the Bihar government.
The competition will be high given the few vacancy positions (41 posts). I would recommend the spare time to be usefully spent and work primarily on the places where one is weak before the preliminary aptitude test.

Revised Exam Schedule Overview
The posted new schedule by the commission reinstates the following:
- Revised Prelims Date: 10/09/2025
- Exam Timing: One shift- 12:00 PM TO 2:15 PM
- Reporting Time: applicants are not to be late to the center, at least 1 hour before
This adjustment of date takes the place of the preceding conditional date (13 September) and is now fixed. The Commission has advised aspirants to study based on the new date and monitor the official site for the admit card link.

Plan of Action for Candidates
With a specific date of the exam known, it is time to switch to the revision and timed training. This is a good course of action to take in the final weeks:
- Revise static GK -Indian Constitution, history, geography, and national movements.
- Get a feel for the way questions in previous BPSC papers are asked.
- Leadership on the current affairs of Bihar on its government policies, schemes, and initiatives.
- Revise simple mathematical formulae, average, ratio, time and work, and percentage.
- Revise topics of logical thinking, such as series, sequences, and coding-decoding.
What Happens After Prelims?
The BPSC ASO procedure is divided into three stages, namely:
- Preliminary Exam Objective MCQ paper (qualifying/screening).
- Mains Exam- Descriptive and written papers (or parts) that constitute four parts, namely, General Hindi, General Knowledge, and a Special Paper.
- Document Checking & Final Merit List
People who pass the Prelims will be invited to take part in the Mains examination. The date of Mains would be released separately once after Prelims results have been released. Candidates must study well descriptive writing, questions on statistics, and Hindi essay/letter writing, as those are weighted areas in the final selection in Mains.
